Library Director - Hartland Public Library

The Hartland Public Library is accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of library director.  The position is open due to the retirement of the current director.  Applicants should be enthusiastic supporters of public libraries with a passion for cultivating learning and literacy, and engaging the community.  A strong candidate will have an understanding of 21st century skills with ability to triage basic problems; excellent communication skills; the ability to remain positive and flexible; and a demonstrated ability to lead people.

The Library was completely renovated and expanded in 2012, and it is a beautiful, modern 21,000-square-foot facility that demonstrated the backing of citizens who value and support their community library.

Serving over 14,000 area residents, the Library is located in the heart of the Village of Hartland.  Hartland is a family-oriented community located 25 miles west of Milwaukee in Waukesha County with a commitment to excellent school systems, well-maintained infrastructure and plenty of green space.  The library director is under the supervision of an independent seven-member library board of trustees and is also an integrated component of the village government.  The Library is a member of the Bridges Library System, which includes the 24 libraries located in Waukesha and Jefferson Counties.  The Library circulates nearly 200,000 items each year and has an annual budget of over $700,000.

Qualifications:  This position requires a Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program with eligibility for a Grade 1 Wisconsin library certificate.  Please read more here.

Salary:  From $56,000/year (negotiable dependent on qualifications) with an attractive benefits package.

Chief of Police Ad

The Village of Hartland is currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of Chief of Police. The duties of the Chief of Police include police service planning, organizational development and maintaining a positive community relationship. The individual will be responsible to administer all department operations and personnel to provide public service, community protection and law enforcement services within the Village. The Chief of Police is also responsible for creating a yearly budget, bi-weekly payroll and other administrative duties. The Police Chief's work is performed under the direction of the Village Administrator/Board, as well as the Police and Fire Commission for matters of hiring, promotion and significant cases of discipline.
Qualifications: a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, a law enforcement, public administration or related fields. Advanced management training such as F.B.I National Academy, Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command, Southern Police  Institute Command or other similar advanced management training. DPW Seasonal Employment

Village of Hartland DPW is accepting applications for seasonal employment. Duties include: grass cutting, trash pickup, painting, weed cutting, general janitorial, park and public works activities. Part-Time Custodian

The Village of Hartland is accepting applications to fill the position of Custodian. This individual will perform janitorial and maintenance work in our municipal buildings, Monday - Friday, approximately 25 hours per week. Job Description
